A Bellevue man who lost his wallet at a Kennewick thrift store found himself behind bars after store employees called police when they noticed several IDs and credit cards inside.

Kennewick police detectives are now investigating whether Sean Christopher Cutshall and his girlfriend are linked to a trail of identity theft cases from Tri-Cities to the west side, Sgt. Brian Swartswalter said.

The incident started about 2 p.m. at St. Vincent De Paul, after employees found a wallet in the store.

A woman's ID was inside and they called the name out on the store speakers several times, but no one responded, Swartswalter said.

About 15 minutes later, Cutshall asked for the wallet, but when they wouldn't give it to him he started swearing at them and stomping down the aisles, Swartswalter said.

He quickly left when police arrived, but employees pointed him out. Officers stopped his car and saw Cutshall wearing jewelry with price tags.

Officers ran the fake name Cutshall gave them, found there was no record and arrested him for not having a valid driver's license.

They also discovered the jewelry had just been shoplifted from the store, Swartswalter said.

While talking to a detective, Cutshall mentioned his girlfriend Katie, who was at a local motel.

Officers went to talk to her to figure out Cutshall's real name and found she was wanted in Seattle for trafficking stolen property.

Kateri Joan Wright, 27, of Bellevue was arrested and gave officers her boyfriend's real name. He also was wanted in Seattle for the same offense, Swartswalter said.

The car, which appeared to have mail inside, was impounded for evidence. Cutshall's wallet also contained various credit card and IDs.

Wright and Cutshall were booked into the Benton County Jail on the warrant.

Cutshall is also being held on suspicion of fraud and possessing stolen property.
